spam or trojan... not virus.

spam = unwanted email / communication.

trojan = program that claims to do one thing but does something else. May have been put onto your computer because of a weakness of your computer security or because you clicked 'something' on a web page.

virus = program that can spread itself without anyone actively spreading it. May or may not do anything other than spread itself.

Yea it sounds like a false positive. It doesn't necessarily mean you have an infection, or that the program is a threat. It could simply be showing malware that is not there so you will buy the product.
