Direct sales is where you make direct contact with a consumer and try and sell them a product, usually done by telephone or in person. Indirect sales deal with impersonal methods such as mail advertisements and things where you rely on the will of the consumer to buy your product, not your sales skills.

Direct Sales is also known as network marketing. You have a consultant who builds a network of end-users or consumers who purchase products directly from the manufacturer. It eliminates a lot of the middle men that drive product costs up.
Some examples are Arbonne, Mary Kay, Tupperware, etc...

Direct sales means you buy from the manufacturer, cutting out all the middlemen such as advertisers, shippers and retailers. This generally allows you to buy at a wholesale price.
