If you only want the broadband to download updates and levels then it really does not matter, the faster your connection, the faster you can dl the information. If you want to play games on XBox Live, then the faster your upload and download rates the better the connection will be. XBox Live uses a large amount of bandwidth to transfer information to and from your system.
