Go to the Cape and base yourself in Cape Town and you will have the bestest time you have ever had. Take a trip up the garden route and return inland via Outshoorn and Route 69.

Depending on the time of year you are there, go up the West Coast and see the wild flowers, acres and acres of bright flowers all facing the sun as if worshiping the heat - stupendious sight.

Visit Hermanus to see the whales (comming in so close to land to birth) and continue down to Agulus (the most southernly point of Africa)

And then just hang out in Cape Town and enjoy the hospitality of the winelands and the city. - that will fill more than three weeks worth of holiday and you never need go over the mountains to the hinter land.

Hola 7 :)

Ok, just to add up onto what the wonderful people have already said...

Again: You have to visit Soweto to experince the township life and for a bit of political background, you should do Pretoria and the Apartheid museum in Johannesburg.

You also have to do Limpopo (has some breath taking places) BUT very warm. You'll need some sun-screen if you are from a grey area but you'll love it. There are plenty of 4x4 driving place, you can hire the car and do a drive through. Some lakes/dams :) Beautiful place...

You better visit very soon dude!!!

Depends what you want to see: if it's wildlife then the Kruger National Park ranks up there with the world's best. Cape Town and surrounds are scenic and historical. KwaZulu Natal has lots of culture.

look, south africa is a beautiful place.

go see all the natural wonders, visit www.southafrica.info for an idea.

secondly, stay away from metropolitan areas, our police are very corrupt, and love issuing "spot fines", which can get expensive after a while.

lastly, go to the biggest zoo in the world, located at the union buildings in pretoria....

There are many beautiful sites in South Africa but all are governed by the violent crime that puts your safety at risk. All the main CBD's of the major Cities are no go areas as are the Townships and squatter camps that abound the highways.
