Yes...I had an allowance....yes...I had to do chores....
My Mom did something that I now do with my kids...
My Sister & I started out with 10.00 a wk....for everytime that we were bad...didn't do our chores...our homework...or fought with her about something...she took money away....
We were able to regain some of the money she took, by doing extra things....but for the most part....we got 10.00 a wk...we really weren't that bad....LOL..
My kids on the other hand....OMG...my son is lucky to get 5.00 a wk....where as my daughter will keep her whole 10.00....night & day with them 2....LOL

At first it was whatever grade i was in, i got a week.
so 7th grade, i got $7 a week. Pure spending money. But i was prety spoiled, so i got whatever i wanted on whim.
Starting in 10th grade, i got $50 a week.
In college now....i get $1500 a month. Have to pay all my own stuff besides food and tuition/books.

no, and my mother believed "a child should not get paid for something they should be doing anyways." hah. we didn't even get paid for doing more than our share of chores or doing something special. I think she was just cheap.

i had an allowance and didnt have to do anything for it, it did me no favours, when i left home i couldnt do anything for myself, i didnt even realize half of the things that needed doing, not good

honey, i got whatever i wanted as a child, but tthe trade off was, i had to get straight As, and believe me, my patents investment in me was well worth the price they paid.
