if the laptop is old i.e. when they come with p4 processors, then you can change it with desktop pc as the processor is the same. but in case of new generation of computers i.e. with centrino technology or mobile technology, the architecture of the processor is changed a lot so as to make them efficient and consume less power which is vital in case of the laptops. so in new processors you cannot interchange your processor with the desktop one.

Chances are no, the CPUs for notebooks are built differently then for desktops and many are actually soldered onto the MoBo itself.
