It's not that simple. Charles is Prince of Wales, the officially recognized heir to the throne, and he has been brought up to accept the responsibility of becoming king. He could abdicate after becoming king, but there is no reason why he should.

No, why should he? AS the Sovereign's eldest son he's been groomed since birth to be King. Why should he give up his right? Of course if the Queen outlives him William will be the next King, but until (and if) that happens why should Charles renounce his right to the Throne (which he can do if he so wishes).

Only if he wants to.
If Charles wants to be king, then no one can take that away from him. William will eventually have his time, whether he is 30 or 55 when he becomes king.

No. Charles has been appointed the next in line and this has been accepted by Parliament. Sorry, it's not a popularity contest, or half of them would never have made it to the starting gate!

No, why should he? Just because William is considered good-looking and Charles isn't?

Nope. William should enjoy his freedom as long as possible. Charles is ready to assume his responsibilities.

No, to be King is his birthright....he could abdicate but it is doubtful that he would do such a thing.

William is also Charles' son
