The line that comes under the headline is usually called the subhed. (a byline is the thing that says By John Smith). If you wrote this article, you know better than anyone what it's about. Have you written this for a particular publication, or are you trying to shop it around? The reason I ask is that at most magazines, the headline and subhed are written by an editor, not the author.

in the age of openness, more minority men seem to still be living closeted lives. There may be a bigger stigma in the black community about being gay, but I don't know. I was engaged to a Native American man who admitted that he was gay before we got married. I was shocked, there was nothing effete or effeminate about him. I was angry because I felt lied to and I was hurt because someone I loved could not be in my life the way I wanted him to be with me. We were very good friends before we were engaged and after I was able to calm down we became friends again. We will never be as close as we were but we still care a great deal about one another, just more like siblings now. and no neither of us is HIV positive, he says he never stepped out on me before we separated and I believe him and he has continued to be careful and is currently in a monogamous relationship

It is looked down upon more in the black community cause they think it makes you seem like a punk. So they get married notbeing tru to themselves and come out later on. This never happened to me but... I am bi and I am trying to come out to my current bf and I am experiencing problems doing it cause he does not like that....
