The best time I found was late morning/lunch time to start with.

There is no point in trying at breakfast just now becuase your baby will be to hungry after his sleep and won't have the paitence to eat - they just want the bottle!

I done morning bottle around 7.30-8am then some food about 11.30-12 then a bottle at around 1 and you can try dinner at about 4.30, another bottle then bed time bottle around 7.

If your baby is really hungry then give a bottle first as they won't tolerate getting spoon fed but if you space them throughout the day then you shouldn't have any problems

Good luck!

The best time of the day when you start weaning is a time when you and baby can be relaxed and take your time. Also i would let your little one have half of his/her milk first as they will be too sressed as baby's want feeding NOW!!!!! so allowing then to have some milk to fill a gap in their tummy first will hopefully make your baby settled enough to enjoy the food you give him/her. Good luck.
P.S. I personnaly would start with the evening meal and work from there. As it can help them get through the night if they dont sleep through.
My 9 1/2 month old babies routine is as follows now.....

7:30- wakes up and has milk
9:00- has breakfast
9:30 Sleep time
12:00 lunch
1:00/1:30- Milk
1:30/2:45- Sleep
5:00/5:30- dinner
6:30- Bath
7:00- Last milk feed and bed afterwards
But it takes time to get a set routine. Good luck and enjoy. I do allow this to be a little flexible as it is important for your baby to be adaptable to change once in a while.

Trust your instincts!

I offered my baby some solids inbetween milk feeds just to get him used to the new textures.
Once he seemed interested in food and stared at the rest of the family when they ate anything, I started offering some breakfast (baby oatmeal and fruit puree) with the rest of the family at breakfast time ( about hour after his wake-up milk feed).
After that was established I tried some pureed veg at lunch time and more fruit and cereal at teatime.

It's a big trial and error learning curve for both you and baby, every baby is an individual, start with what you think is best and if it doesn't suit adapt and try something else.
Just keep persevering, I recently read somewhere that sometimes it takes upto 15 times of refusal before baby will accept something new.

Happy weaning :0)

Best time of day for solids is usually lunch time because solids take longer time to digest and you would not want to burden your baby's stomach before a night's sleep and also because babies usually love the comforting feeling of mommy's breast or the bottle before they go to sleep. Give solids before you feed the milk because your baby will have more desire to accept new stuff when s/he is hungry. If you are starting now, don't feed too much solids at a time. Give several spoons and then feed the milk. Do that with every new food you introduce. Gradually you can increase the volume to a full feeding with solids.

The best time of day depends on your schedule and your baby's mood! But start the bottle feed to get rid of the initial real hunger then give a few spoons of baby food. Dont over feed even if baby is enjoying it for the first few days, as the stomach needs to get used to the new substance!

from my experience let baby wake up and let him/her have some milk but 1/2 as normal, prepare then some porridge, baby fruit breakfast etc, don't expect them to eat it all its new, repeat the same at dinner time etc, and don't forget to introduce water/juice so baby isn't having twice as much intake of food through solids and milk, people often forget this when weaning as baby eats food and then they follow it up with a bottle of milk, which leads to unnecessary weight gain for baby. good luck

I believe, with 3 children of my own and I'm a nursery nurse, that it is best done at lunch time before bottle, just give a little, one spoonful to start then gradually increase. Once after a week or two begin starting at breakfast ,again the same way. Then after a week or two the child will be getting a breakfast and lunch and then you can begin at tea time for the babys tea. It should take about a month and the child will be eating 3 meals a day and bottles. If in doubt phone your health visitor for advice.

At 5 months old milk is still the most important meal. Give him his normal milk feed, wait 10-15 mins and then give him a spoonful of baby rice etc. At this stage you are just giving your baby a feel of a different texture.

As experts change their minds constantly about how to wean your baby, i would definately speak to your helth visitor about the next stage.

When I first started to wean my daughter I would give her a small meal about mid morning after her bottle. I think its best to give solids after a bottle because the child isn't really hungry.
