I'm on the Depo shot and they told me I would have some bleeding here and there, but I've had a steady period for almost a month! I tried calling my Dr. but I spoke with her assistant about 4 days ago and she said it's normal to have some bleeding, was very short on the phone with me and hung up. I know I need to get a new Dr. but I was just wondering if anyone else had experienced this and what they were told by their Drs. Thanks for your time.

Make them do a blood test to check your estrogen and progesterone levels. I was on depo with the same problem, they then put me on the implanon - same problem. These contraceptives are more progesterone based. Years later it was discovered by a gynaecologist that I had been forced into a false meopause and the pain and bleeding was my uterus lining breaking from lack of estrogen. Honey, do not take the docs word for it. Learn from my mistake and demand a blood test. You should be fine but better safe than sorry.

I had considered Depo-Provera at one time for my endometriosis but chose not to do it for other reasons of the medical nature but at the time I was considering it the MA (Medical Assistant) that was working for my gyn at the time told me that breakthrough bleeding was a common side effect of the medication. She did tell me that some women can't stand the bleeding although it should end at 3 months.

I would recommend getting another opinion to be on the safe side and not from someone in the same office as the dr that you currently see.

I dont think this is something that you should not take seriously. Usually prelonged periods mean you have a hormonal imbalance. How long have you had it, is it towards the end where you need to update it. I would find another doctor, preferablly female and get to the bottom of this now, as you don't want to end up anemic as well. Good luck

Check with your old doctor now, or get a new doctor and ask them now.
