So I'm 22 & pregnant. Before I found out I was pregnant, I got real sick & dropped some SERIOUS weight (about 20 pounds!!). I wasn't dieting or anything, just within about a months' time, I gradually stopped eating & I can't explain why. My normal healthy weight fluxuated between 115-120; so you can imagine how I looked after that drastic drop!!
Here is my question:
Currently, I am about 6 1/2 months along, I have been gradually eating regulary, but it looks like almost EVERYTHING has gone to my belly (the baby) & I gain weight back everywhere else SLOWLY. Not a toothpick or annorexic-looking anymore, but just a bit skinnier than BEFORE I found out. Apparently, its heredity because the sick deal & the weight loss thing happened to my mom when she was preg w/ me. I've heard it's called a "skinny pregnancy"... has anyone else had this happen & do you know if I'll gain back what I had before. I'm 5'4'' & I was never fat, but I had a "black girls booty" & just the right amount of curves...

You sound like you had my body (before I was pg!): I was barely 5'3" and usually between 115-120 and always had the perfect curves and always had a "ghetto booty" (as we call it). I also lost some weight just before I got pregnant (I also wasn't dieting, I never have dieted).

During my pregnancy I was SOOOO insanely sick all-day, every day...yet I was starving all the time. But I developed severe preeclampsia and the swelling was SO bad that I gained 15 lbs in one week (but it was just swelling, not actual weight). Anyway, I had my daughter 3 months early and all that, and to make a long story longer (ha!), after I gave birth I went back to the normal weight I was before I got pregnant. However, I guess due to the stress I went through almost losing my daughter and her being in the NICU for 4 months, I actually gained a bunch of weight. =/ I still look good, but I actually weigh more now than when I was pg! wtf.

Anyway, I know what you're referring to about your "skinny pregnancy" because my cousin went through that. She was always very thin naturally (5'6" and 100-105 lbs), but somehow she only gained weight in her belly during her pregnancies...and actually lost weight overall. Not healthy, but she couldn't help it. Did she gain the weight back? Nope. After two kids she's actually smaller than she was before. She's pretty annoyed by it since she'd prefer to be 120 instead of under 100. So she's speaking to her doctor about it. Which I suggest you do. See what your doctor has to say about your weight and health!

As for if you will gain the weight back? No one can really say for sure. Everyone's body is totally different and pregnancy does different things to everyone.

But good luck in your pregnancy and I wish you a happy and healthy delivery and baby!

Ignore the first answerer! Despite never looking quite as slim as before, I still wear my bikini with pride in Summer!! (I had my first at 17, I'm now 23 and pregnant with nº2)

I gained a lot of weight with my first pregnancy - more then was good for me! But with my second, I have been the same as you (I'm 31 weeks now).

I have lost weight over the rest of my body, but my tummy is huge! The doctors have said she is a good size baby! Hopefully it's the same for you! They aren't too worried about me not putting weight on anywhere else, the most impotanat thing is baby at the mo!

I too was really sick for the first three months, I couldn't eat anything. Everything tasted "gone bad" - I felt sick when I smelt anything cooking etc...

Hope all goes great for you! Cpngrats and I hope you get back your nice figure, it is possible!!
