About to lay new ceramic tile. Pulled up the old vinyl and much to my surprise the subfloor is 1 inch solid plywood! So I'm good there. The vinyl left behind a coat of the old glue, that ain't going anywhere. Is it okay to lay right over this as long as it is pasted well to the floor, or do I have to try and somehow scape up all that old glue? The glue is flat and smooth, not lumpy, although still a bit tacky in spots.
I did ceramic in my basement last month and pulled up the old vinyl there. I used chemicals to remove the old vinyl glue and it was a REAL BTCCCCH to get up. So if this is an unnecessary step, then I would sure like to avoid this.
thanks
