and then the next door ajoining neighbour says that damage has been caused to their roof by the builder.
Who is becomes liable? Ie who should the neighbour rightly chase for compensation. Me or the builder?

The builder is responsible under his Public Liability Insurance - not your problem - just give the details to the neighbour - it's up to them to prove it though

Give the neighbours the builders phone number and let them sort it out between them.

If you hired a builder and this company damaged other property. Your neighbor should be seeking compansation from the builder. Your not responsible for the action's of others.

he would probably say its your fault ..and if the builder wont fix it they will almost certainly be looking at you to pay
