Think about all those romance films we watch. There are points in each movie where we feel that the characters "love" each other. We pay attention to how they look in one another's eyes, the way they kiss, the tears they shed when confessing their love, etc. And yet, all of these so-called "signs" are really just the handiwork of a couple of good actors, who in real life, probably dont have stable relationships.

What's my POINT???

What I'm asking is that if love can be so easily displayed on screen, Dont you think it's also possible for it to be "displayed" in real life ,by real people, but not truly felt?

Really good question. I think it's hard to understand love and what it means and how to show it. I think genetically we know how to show love instinctually by expressing genuine feelings of concern, appreciation, and value in each of our own ways. But yes it is great when film portrays what me perceive love to be, but in a way demeans what love it. Since it's such an abstract concept on so many levels we will probably never know what TRUE LOVE is.

well for starters, just because something is simulated on screen does not negate its existance in the material world. If i see someone die from a gun shot wound on film I am not going to assume that shooting people is harmless or imaginary. Also the films we watch are born in the minds of people living right here in the real world with you and I, their ideas and feelings which they portray on screen come from their memories which are comprised of their experiences and interpritations of such, if you watch a movie about love it probably has some connection to very real feelings and or events. so don't worry, just because you found love on a screen does not mean that it will be absent anywhere else you look.

Of course it can be faked. But if you didn't have your own love experiences to relate to the scene, it wouldn't be authentic. The best movies, the best scenes are usually ones that someone has made a sacrifice for. (mentally, physically)They've had the broken heart or been dumped in real life and know the EXACT feeling to put into the scene, so the re-live it. It looks painful or romantic because it was really that way for them, at some point. That's my theory.

I think that what you see in the movies is just "romance."

Real love is so much more. It's dragging your butt out of bed at 5a.m. to fix your hubby breakfast and pack his lunch. It's working at a job you hate, because you know your wife and kids will go hungry if you don't.

Real love is about waking up each morning and thinking about what you can do for that special one, to make their day a little bit better. And, it's about toughing it out....when you get bored with one another....realizing it's just another little storm you have to ride out, til better times come your way.

The things you see in the movies....yeah, they can be there at the beginnings of love....but, the real test comes later....when it's time to quit talking....quit making googly eyes at each other....and do the everyday things to prove how much we love each other.

That's love. And, it can't be xeroxed on film.

Well, that's what they call acting. Love does exist, but like any emotion, it can be mimicked.
