After a family gathering one Christmas I, as usual, cleaned the furniture and removed all cushion for brushing. I noticed a corner of an envelope sticking out from where the springs are and tug it out. The corner tore off and I saw what looked like a £50 note in the envelope.
I put my hand down and scooped out the rest of the package and found that it was full of money. I counted £7000 in £50 notes. It had to belong to a family member but there was no way of knowing which one as there were various sub families in at that time. Later that day my brother turned up complete with suit cases and asked if I had found the cash. He said he had put it there for me to find so that his wife would not know about it. He was off and leaving his wife for a girl he was having an affair with in his office. I refused to give him the money and told him to go home. He didn't and has not spoken to me now for 10 years. I gave his wife the cash and she divorced him.
I don't claim the prize but a rather sad story really.
Apart from that £3.50 in various coins.

Never found much behind the sofa but I did used to hide money all over the place a few years ago which i've now realised is a stupid idea. I once found £100 that i'd stashed away inside a 'New Kids On The Block' CD album - It must have been there 3 years!!
