Ok so yes I'm addicted to my two hours a day of video games. I have two little boys (9 and 5) and they too are very upset if they dont get their game time in. My oldest son has "video games" he plays in school that teach 3rd grade level math, English, and how to type. (actually part of the corriculum) Also my 5 year old has a couple of different games he is allowed to play on the Xbox 360 or PS2 that we have and he has a handheld "video game" that teaches multiple educational activities. (leapster!!we love it!!) Let me tell u, my 5 year old can keep his car on the road better than I can in the game Cars!! ha!! he has great hand eye cordination. As long as limits are set and you always tell them that a video game is just that - a game, I don't see where a problem will arrise. I highly doubt that my 5 year old will try to drive my car because he drives better than me in a game... he knows only grownups drive "real" cars.
It's all on the parent. You teach ur child right and wrong. I don't see the video games as an issue I see the parents letting them play games that arent appropriate for their age to be the problem. Then again, thats a different topic!!

Games have their place, and for the most part can be viewed as recreational fun. However, there is overly excessive violence these days which does desensitise some people to it (though as others have said, it doesn't necessarily leads to murder, as those people are disturbed anyway). I have seen young kids playing and they can get out of control when they attempt their favourite moves from their games. They don't often realise how dangerous these moves can be (especially as they usually go wrong!).

The worst part is that the more people play games, the less they are doing physical activities, as this can (and does) affect their health!

As in all things, moderation is good. So enjoy playing games, but remember, they are just a bit of occasional fun.

properly, there's some video games i've got taken somewhat a liking to in the process the final years. i particularly like Age of Mythology a attitude sport, the Guild Wars mmorpg franchise is likewise impressive to boot as some distance Cry and a lot Cry 2 the two being great, inspite of being made by completely diverse companies. in case you're searching for a sturdy online FPS, i might surprisingly propose Counter Strike: resource it particularly is in all probability the suited one around and it has a squel popping out quickly Counter Strike: worldwide Offensive.

Not at all. We all know its just a game in the same way that when we watch horror movies we don't start running around slicing others up. Deluded people will blame the game but in the end of the day you are what you are. If your going to murder someone playing a game will be the bottom of your list of motives i reckon - might give you a few creative ideas how to do it but not be the cause of it. Fiction! Same applies to books etc

Video Games do not ruin peoples lives. Sure some people play WoW to much and dress up like wood elves when they go to buy a loaf of bread from the store...little odd but i'm not here to judge.

Video Games can be healthy and are just used as good ol' fashioned fun in my eyes. Some people like to read, some like to skate, some like to wrestle with man eating squids, I prefer to play video games with my free time.

It's not like my boss calls me and goes "are you coming in today or not!?" and I go "Huh? Oh yeah sure sure, just one more level...just one more." and then spend 6 more days on the couch without moving

You just need to know the difference between hobby and obsession and everything will work out just fine

I'm not obsessed with video games but I don't hate them either. People think its bad but it's not really bad... its actually is good for you.... it increases your strategy skills along with other stuff.
