My girlfriend who lives in Taunton & I live in South Wales is looking at moving back to Wales so is lining up job interviews here & I asked her where she is planning to live. She said she doesnt want to live with her parents who live in South Wales as this is where she is originally from. I said if I can get most of my loans paid off I would get somewhere with her but she is has gone quiet now hardly returning my texts, have I scared her off? I am really worried because I dont want to mess this relationship up. I have apologised & said I hope I havent scared you off but I dont know what to do now. Please help!

No, I really don't think you have - actually, she probably would have been pissed off with you if you HADN'T offered! I think the way to go would be not to mention it again, leave it to her to bring up - bear in mind she'll have a lot to think about and is quite probably a bit stressed at the moment. Just be as supportive as you can, and tell her how much you're looking forward to her coming back to Wales. I'm sure everything will be fine.

Wooah Tauton!! South West is the best :)

Anyway I don't think you have scared her off maybe she just doesn't want to jump into things i mean she must be serious about moving up with you as she has got interviews and stuff. Maybe the word LOAN scared her...

I would just leave it dont text or call because she might get even annoyed that you are harassing her!!

good luck boyo

It sounds scary when being offered to get some money. Paying off loans are expensive. She is probably thinking, OK but what do you want out of this? And texting back and apoligising and saying I hope I didn´t scare you is making it scarier. Time to put yourself in NONCHALANT MODE. If she ever brings it up again (you don´t bring it up) say well, I understand about being short on money so I offered to help. Just keep a healthy balance of avoiding her and charming her at the same time, until she WANTS to be with you, until she ASKS to be with you. Good luck.

i can't imagine you've scared her unless this is a really new relationship. She may just be busy what with trying to move or considering her options-maybe she's quite excited by your proposal and is weighing up her options or perhaps she's a little worried about you taking too much on with your loan situations...why don't you ask her-she's your girlfriend! If you can't discuss stuff like this now it may not last long!

I have a vague suspicion she might have expected you to take her in wherever you are now. If she is willing to get another job to be near you, then you were expected to be willing to get a place with her, debts or no debts.... bit tactless to her mind I think... I understand the reasons but maybe she does not? it is probably not a question of scaring her off... but this is just guessing. Go ask her straight up. the clearer the question the clearer the answer.

The best thing for your relationship is to communicate with each other. Here is just a wild thought. Maybe you are scaring her off by offering to live with her because maybe she is old fashioned and wants to be married instead of living with a man. If that isn't it then maybe she is trying to break things off carefully. We can speculate here all day but only she can tell you.

For some moving in together is a very big step and people are apprehensive to take the plunge. Your G/f may also be a little startled over the level of commitment you are showing her and this takes a while to sink in.
Give her a few days and I'm sure she will cal or txt you.

Well you did say "If i can get most of my loans paid off i would get a place with you" that to me would mean no way am i getting a place with you!! So maybe you should give her a call and explain.

Sounds like she may be busy with work or something else. Why not give her a text and ask how was she doing. I suppose texting her would not be a problem. Good luck.

phone her, that way u can at least kind of tell what she's thinkin by the tone of her voice, whereas in a text she might be able to hide things... i hope things get sorted out for the better! good luck! x
