Shivaji's father was actually a person half-related to Bijapur, the great ddistrict of ancient Karnatak(Karnataka). The Marathas did not actually attack the temple, but its people. However, Shivaji Maharaj conquered a large part of Karnataka. The temple was probably in Mysore(maisooru). I'm from Karnataka.
