The best, easiest way would be to pour hot water over the mixture, or combine the mixture with water and then heat it. The acetanilide is soluble in hot water, and the sand isn't. So you could just drain off the hot acetanilide solution and recyrstallize the compound (simply by cooling the water).

Acetanilide is water soluble. Sand isn't. I would add hot water to the mixture and then pour it through a filter. The acetanilide will pass with the water, the sand will not pass through the filter, voila!! I have separated two solids in a mixture.

Acetanilide is a polar compound so do water unlike sand. Then i would add hot water to the mixture then acetanilide will dissolve as polar dissolve polar and pour it to the filter, then the acetanilide will pass through with water leaving sand behind. Hence i would be able to separate two solids in a mixture
