I keep hearing the Jets will trade him since he's too light for the3-4 defense...how can you trade a guy who may be the smartest player in the league? The guy studies up on opponents as well as Peyton Manning...can't we shift him to Free Safety or something?

There is truth to this rumor.

At the combine the Jets were talking to the Bills. And, the Lions have interest. I wouldnt be suprised to see him traded. He doesnt fit in with what there trying to do in New York. He is probably quiet about it, but Vilma wants to be traded, because in the end, playing in the wrong system could cost him money.

I wouldn't rule out Vilma being traded but it's not likely. He's the leader of this team, led in tackles and is still ONLY 24 years old.If they do trade him Mike Tannenbaum will have to be blown away by the deal.I wouldn't worry about it though. The main problem I see with Vilma is he needs a really good Nose Tackle in front of him to take up blockers to free him up.Robertson is a good pass rusher and put up good stats but he doesn't take up blockers like Vince Wilfork does.Vilma will be back to dominating once we get a NT trust me the same thing happened to Ray Lewis. He cried like a ***** until they drafted Haloti Ngata last year and he dominated last year.Don't worry Tannenbaum won't do anything stupid.

The Jets definitely wouldn't trade Vilma. He's their best defensive player and he's also a captain.

I heard the rumor. I don't know if it will happen. If traded, the Jets should get a good player in exchange or a good draft pick.

They won't trade him. That is just one of those nasty rumors that people start during the offseason to get a buzz going.
