I'm not sure this is an appropriate question as I don't know if brand names can be named but so far we haven't had much success with a certain brand and would like other opinions

I have an Apple I-Book and I absolutely love it. There's tons of possibilities and it's so small (I have the 12 inch version) that I can easily take it with me everywhere I go. It's great for watching dvd's for instance. Good luck!

if you don't use the laptop for too long, such as a constant 3-4 hour without turning it off at all, i recommend that you should check out the Acer laptops, because they can get really hot if you use it too long. Otherwise, they're fast and quite cheap. However, if you want a sturdy laptop that can go with you through some rough situations, I've heard that IBM Lenovo laptops are quite ideal for that. If you're quite into some nice looking laptops with beautiful finishes or some nice logo, try checking out the the HP Compaq Presario or the HP Pavilion, or just go for the Vaio if you got the bucks. In my opinion though, i quite have a liking for ASUS , i feel like they're quite all-round other than the design.
