I copied the master disk data to the slave and i changed there connections including the jumper to make the slave master and vise versa. the computer couldnot boot up , i put the connection back to the original and it works .My interest is to make my slave disk( bigger memmory size) to be the master becouse the c drive is getting full and making my computer slower?

What you need is a piece of software called GHOST. It will image your old hard drive to your new hard drive. It will also let you make a bootable floppy disk. So...you can change the jumpers and make your new drive "C" then boot on floppy and imiage D (old drive) to C (new drive). After that's done you can boot from "C" as normal.

Keep in mind whatever is slowing down your computer NOW will still be on the imaged disk. You won't be ridding yourself of any malware, spyware or virus you may have.

I would....

1 ) Backup my data files to DVD or CDs
2 ) Repartition the hard drive and format it
3 ) Re-install Windows XP (or whatever OS you have)
4 ) Scan old drive for viri
5 ) Copy anything you want from the old drive to the new drive
6 ) Format old drive

No, there are jumpers (a little plastic piece) on the back of the hard drive you have to move around. You also have to flip the data connectors. You could put some files on the slave drive, for instance games, word processors and music files. They will work ok by being on the slave drive. The RAID system allows you to combine hardrives into a "super" hardrive.

If you were to switch the jumper settings on the drives, then your C drive will still be your C drive and still full. If both drives are accessible in Windows then just start to transfer data from your C drive to your D drive (or whatever it is called) or you could save it directly to the second hard drive. Master and slave is only used for hardware location identification.

Most hard drive cables have two plugs each for two hard drives. To transfer data from one hd to another yes you'll need to open the case and connect the new hd to the data cable and power supply cable. Then use Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, Backup. This is an XP tool which works well for doing what you want.

If you dont want to open the computer cover then the only solution would be to allocate more memory to drive C. Go and download Partition Majic and you can do it without having to worry about data loss at all.

( might wanna get the crack of PQ majic from mscracks, keygen.us etc )

No way to access the jumper for not removing the cover and maybe you still need to dettached also your hard drive.
