I want to find reputable suppliers for Mobile Phones and other consumer electronics from China but I don't know which companies are legitimate and reputable or not. How do I find out without flying over to China?

I am an American who lived in China for 10 years. I speak Chinese and worked in China in the fields of logistics, marketing and manufacturing services. I can tell you from experience that the only way to be sure you are dealing with a reputable supplier is to (a) visit them yourself; or (b) have someone you trust visit them. How else can you be sure the person you are emailing is not a fraudster? They are probably asking you for a 30% down payment and 70% balance before shipping? That means you will have paid them 100% and still not have your product. Even if they offer 30% down and balance after shipping, how can you be sure they won't simply steal your down payment? And even if they do follow through, what if the goods are defective? Or when you open the box you find out they sold you something different from what you thought you were getting? These kinds of things happen all the time.

First thing to keep in mind is that you can't effectively buy from China unless you are buying substantial quantities. Chinese factories are in the business of mass producing things. They will not entertain small orders for long. The cost to a supplier in terms of time, administrative resources, communictations, effort, etc. is the same to supply 100 mobile phones to you as it is to supply 100,000 mobile phones to another buyer. The buyers with the big orders get top priority. If you do not have big orders you will get sidelined. Herein lies the conundrum: if you were in a position to buy large quantities, then you wouldn't be on Yahoo answers asking this question. You would be over there in China visiting, screening and interviewing suppliers.

You should find a domestic supplier in your home market. You will pay more to buy from a domestic supplier, but you will eliminate most of the risk. You should not be thinking about buying from China until you have developed your sales. If you can at least cover your costs while growing your sales, customer base and distribution, then you can go to China with some LEVERAGE - you will have existing demand, you will be prepared to place reasonably-sized orders, you will know what price you need, etc. Don't obsess about BUYING, you should be obsessed with SELLING first. That's where the money is.

i purchased a clean one at the moment. My previous one can slip out of my fingers a minimum of a pair of times an afternoon, and the paint became chipped off the perimeters; besides the undeniable fact that it became an particularly difficult telephone. It once fell into the drain for the rainwater even as i became waiting for the school bus, and that i left it there and retrieved it contained in the afternoon with a fishing internet.
