No. Its pretty cool. Our government has been very, very stupid lately, but I like living here and I think in general it is a decent place. I've only lived here and France though, so maybe I haven't been to a non-evil country yet.

I'm answering because I'm not American. I see good and bad.
Americans are generous, open, sincere, ambitious and adventurous. They know how to be serious and how to have fun. That's a lot of good points. Sadly, a few of them think their economic success proves they are right in everything - not just economics. These few tend to ignore the opinions and rights of others, assuming that the answer to every problem is to be more American. I like the Americans I know a lot. But, please, there is a time to listen to others and even a time to think they could be right. Go on, don't just be good, be wonderful!

I'm sorry, now is the time, I have to ask; What strikes questions like this? How can this even be... look at the CHAOS in this world, the major abusive problems certain countries on opposite sides of the world are going through, and you ask if the United States is an evil/bad country. As many of the reponses casually mention above, most Americans are GOOD people, who want to help in sticky situations and all we get is crap for it.
My question... is it jealousy?? It has to be, I think there's no other explanation.

I'm from California born and raised. It's awesome here, we have lots of fun things to do, jobs for the people, education for everybody, but I've noticed that when I meet someone from a foreign country, they are a little more down to Earth and not quite as crazy as I and all my friends are.

H*ll no! America is a beautiful country. Our constitution is a work of sheer genius in itself. We are free to think, argue, and contemplate how to be good people. We fight with each other about what is right, what is the best way to help people, I can not think of better things to protest about. America tries very hard to help people and we are always slammed for it. Americans are generally good people and we try to work hard and have good lives. Like every country, there are things we are working on, our education system has been lost in the fight to make it better, we can't agree on what's best to do about the rush of immigrants, but that's because so many people want to live here. I love my country. It is not a bad country.

The United States has its pros and cons, like any other country. I wouldn't necessarily call it "bad", but I wouldn't call it "good" either.

I think Johnney Depp said it best when he moved to France:
"America is a broken toy in the hands of idiots!"

Johnny Depp is an idiot. he moved to France because he doesn't like to bathe. And if you can't take a joke too bad. America isn't perfect but I wouldn't want to live anywhere else, and yes Ive been to other countries.
