They follow the script but they make the words their own! That's what good acting us all about.

They follow the scripts. Some directors allow a little leeway, but the film writers aren't that happy about it. The words are chosen with specificity.
One of the first things you learn to do as an actor is memorize. It's really not that hard. In a play you have to remember every single line for several hours; when doing a film, they only need to know the lines for the particular scene.
Unless, of course, they're in a Christopher Guest film, where it's improvised.

They have a script. Sometimes they adlib, and sometimes their directors and producers give them creative license to either add to or take away from the script... but they all start with a script.
It is their career choice to be an actor or actress and memorizing scripts is part of their jobs. They get paid a lot of money to do their jobs and to do them well... so if they want to keep working and keep making the big bucks, then they have to put their minds to memorizing, regardless of how many words there are.

No, they follow scripts, and retake the scene if they don't get it right. Many times open auditions for parts are available, and at that time the actors/actresses can use their own peices, but when they are doing a movie or show, they have to follow the script....
Unless is it is something brilliant and astounding that shows what prowess they have....ok, lol, most of them are divorced a couple of times, so just follow the script, please....no, seriously, just follow the script, and no political plugs, either...... :-)

Most follow the script, but sometimes they "ad-lib" if they think something sounds better or if they can't quite remember their line. In the movie with Indiana Jones, where he is in front of the middle eastern guy swinging the swords around, and Jones is just standing there and then pulls out his gun and shoots the guy, it wasn't in the script. He had been feeling bad that day and had a fever and so he decided to just use the gun he had on him, lol. Sometimes the best scenes in movies are ones the actors just made up themselves.

depends on a lot of things, but usually they follow the script, unless the director wants them to improvise sections or the actor ad libs parts. They have to learn their scripts so they are pretty good at memorizing long chunks of speech.

I think they mostly follow a script, but they do add their own stuff sometimes too. Especially Woody Allen, who is just mumbling crazily the whole time... I'm sure he doesn't really follow a script.

This is an easy one. They follow a script, that's why movies have writers and haven't you heard of a movie script?
Where have you been hiding?

They follow the script of course. Sometimes they are free to adlib if they suggest a more humorous or effective rebuttal.

It depends on the directors. Sometimes they use scripts, sometimes they improvise to their own version of the script (whichever is suitable)...
