I am 14. I will be taking Ballet classes in a few mth'time. I am quite flexible as I had learnt Chinese Dance as Co-curriculum Activity for a year.(Now still learning and also piano for 3 years) Well, for the dance, we also do some exercises taught in Ballet and it is something like Ballet... I will be going for Adult Ballet Basic and not sure if I can take Ballet Grade 1 exam there as some classes just move on to Advanced after the Class without taking Ballet exam. Well, I would much preferred to go to Children Class as it is faster and cheaper and I can take Ballet grade exam! I am not sure if my opinion is right : Children learn faster... And I wish to be a Ballet teacher after Ballet Grade 8...

You say you want to go to Children Class "as it is faster and cheaper." Do you mean SHORTER and cheaper? For example, is the Children's class 1 hour long and the Adult class 1 1/2 hour long? Longer classes always cost more.

We've been through this before in your past questions: you need to be in class - ANY CLASS - as much as possible in order to reach your goal. That means that you should take BOTH the Children's and the Adult class if that is possible. But if you can't, you should always pick the LONGEST class.

Until then, please try not to worry so much. It's great that you're going to be able to start taking ballet classes. Once your teacher starts to see how you're working, I'm sure he or she will help you out as much as possible, including helping you to take exams. It's much easier to make extra arrangements with a dance program once you are already part of the program. Hang in there.

Children actually learn faster in a contemporary class. But they learn more in a BALLET class. There is more to take in , and I would start at the lowest level you can manage, because it will be easier to take in all the terms, technique and ect, if that is something you want to pursue.

It really depends on the person and their determination, but most children do learn ballet faster than adults only because they are more open to new experiences and new ideas than adults are, who are typically a little more stubborn and closed-minded.
