Yes.
In fact, Singapore expends almost 5% of its GDP on the military.
It is capable of mobilizing over 300,000 reserves and has an active force of 50,000.
Singapore is known to be use a forward-defense, and pre-emptive military doctrine. In other words, they assume that they CAN successfully invade their neighbors and maintain plans for doing so.

Singapore has a very capable army, air force and navy that both defend its sovereign territory and cooperate in international mavouvers and exercises, like Operation Cobra and patrolling the Straits of Malacca to deter pirates. It also has a territorial dispute with Indonesia about some island or another.
All three arms of the Singaporean defence forces are techologically advanced and the regular servicemen/women are well trained.
Singapore has military concessions in both Thailand and Taiwan. I suppose this is required because the island is so small and lacks the physical structure to keep all of its forces there.

being large enough to successfully invade another nation is a little bit too ambitious. singapore's army isn't that big. we don't rely on manpower. what we rely most is technology. we have one of the most updated war gadgets. the israelis and the Hezbullah war meant alot of things. having the most updated technology wouldn't gurantee you a victory. so i guess the answer to your question is we might not have enough soldiers but successfully invading a country is a possibility. and singapore doesn't invade. it's more to defensive purpose. diplomacy!

Yes, I think Singapore's army is STRONG & DEFENSIVE!!!
Pls visit http://www.mindef.gov.sg/imindef/mindef_websites/atozlistings/army/home.html for more exact details.
Yes, rejecting to join the army, also known as AWOL, is considered committing a serious crime in Singapore. The punishment can be as serious to be put in jail.
Matured males of aged 18, must join and complete National Service (NS) in the army for 2 years. If still studying, there is deferment to delay the process in joining the army. But after the studies of the course, regardless what age the guy may be, he still has to complete the national service.
For any enquiries on SAF, pls contact NS eServices Centre at:
Tel: 1800-367-6767 (Toll-free)
Email: contact@ns.sg
Frankly speaking, I'm unsure if Singapore's army will win during a real war but I've faith in them because Singapore's government has invested alot on the defence technology. So I think Singapore may win! No one can predict the future.

To invade a country is a non-question.
Its there for defence, and they would do it well, a great army is a great defence.

These questions are similar to the question you ask about Singapore.
