playing the organ at GTL Baptist church. They pay me $375.00 every Sunday. I’m in charge of directing the choir, teaching songs and keeping everything with the music department in order. I love it but they! give me hell. I’m the lead musician there. It’s very frustrating in choir rehearsals Because the choir is always trying to put there little in puts and since in when all they know how to do is sing what I ask them to sing. They talk back to me, with smart comments, and they only sing out loud when the pastor is sitting in rehearsals. We have10:00 am and 3:30pm services every Sunday. I don’t fill that im getting paid what I should be getting for all that. SO I have been looking in the ACC news paper for another church and I found one. They pay $300.00 a Sunday, they have 3 choirs, I will be the second musician. only have a couple of outing a year, less 3:30pm services then GTL church. this is my only income. im not working right now. so please help! what should i do?

well first of all good for you and it sounds like fun! when you have time...couldnt you visit or sit in on some of the other choir/music directors at other churches or local colleges/high schools and pick up on some tips dealing with the choir. i dont have a clue what the pay should or shouldnt be, but it would seem dealing with the choir group may be the same everywhere. dunno. anyway, you might try that. peace

I'm so sorry for your lack of cooperation from the choir. if your that unhappy with church services, then find another church. i had always thought that the organist and the choir did it for nothing because of the fulfillment they got out of it. i didn't realize money had anything to do with it.
