can always having my laptop near my pregnant belly affect my unborn baby?

There is no evidence that a laptop harms an unborn child. I keep my laptop on my thighs with a blanket between just to keep the heat off of my legs.

My father in law told me that it was harmful and scared me. I asked my doctor and he said it was fine. You will notice it is usually in older individuals who state these things. The reason is that in older model computers (the computers that looked like tvs) it was thought possible that there could be mercury or radiation in the computers. However, the computers now are not even close to the older models. I mean it was thought that using a microwave while pregnant could cause harm. There is not enough evidence to back this up. :) I did not use my laptop until I talked to my doctor and he said it was okay. The only thing I would be careful of is the computer getting very hot, but other than that it is perfectly safe. It might make you feel better if you ask your doctor, but it is perfectly safe to use your laptop. There are no known problems associated from the use of your laptop, but as I said, talk to your doctor. It may give you more relief than anything.

19 weeks pregnant.

i've got no longer study any medical articles approximately this, yet i myself does no longer achieve this if I have been you. i've got achieved it till now I had gotten pregnant, and the extensive warmth has continuously given me a abdomen soreness and made me no longer experience nicely. Now that i'm pregnant, i does no longer even think of approximately doing it. you never be attentive to what it may reason to the toddler. there is particularly some warmth in spite of each little thing. And such themes are continuously debatable. I advise, you could study a piece of writing right this moment approximately it being ok, and yet another article next 365 days approximately it being volatile. So extra perfect be secure then sorry. Congrats.

I actually looked up this question when I first learned I was pregnant. The answer I got from every site I went to was no. It is perfectly safe to even put your laptop on your belly (before you get to round!!). It will have no harmful or negative effects.

the only thing that would be harmful is the excessive heat the laptop produces. put something between you and the laptop so you are not subjected to the heat. or just lay on your side with the laptop next to you.

According to my doctor, its ok as long as its on your legs and not on the belly, If its on the belly it can raise the baby's body temperature and harm him or her.

I used mine on my lap when I was pregnant. Even more so when I couldn't move so much in the third trimester. My baby turned out okay
