Atoms are the most fundamental particles of matter
They constitute evrything around us and so they are present everywhere
In fact...all the interaction that takes place between matter and energy [the two basics forms of the universe] is due to atoms
The forces,energy and many other phenomenons of physics are the results of these interactions
Hence it is important to study the atom as it is the root cause of life and by doing this we can improve the way we live

Just like you have to learn the alphabet to learn English..you have to study the characteristics of the atom to study scientific phenomena

That is why the atom is soo big in science!

Atoms are used in every science. They help you understand how the body works in Biology, they help you understand electrical feilds in Physics, they can even tell you how the sun produces heat and how the universe was made.
