It's a standard-type, semi-new stove (about 3 years old).

ehhh usually turning the temp knob all the way past the highest temp setting turns it on, and the element is usually on TOP opposite of the normal bottom heating element.

Beyond that, have you tried reading the instructions or, if that is not around, googling for the name of the oven and see if you can get some assistance from the manufacturer's web site?

are you refering to the broiler pan? or the broiler it's self? if you are refering to the broiler pan if you have not seen it or have had it you can pick one up at any department store or home repair store reasonably cheap. But if you are talking about the broiler in the stove, all you have to do is turn it on to broil both settings if it is electric stove. and the top of the oven does the broiling for you, but keep watch of what you are cooking. it is easy to burn your food that way

Any oven I have seen has a basic broiler, wich is that "drawer" on the bottom of the oven, and to turn it on, you should have 2 options on the oven settings, bake....or broil....just set it to broil...
