We're trying to weigh the options and this one looks good, but I'd like to know what drawbacks men have experienced. Serious answers only please. Do you think there is anything to what I've heard about how the sperm can somehow get into your bloodstream with the tube cut and cause a higher incidence of things like Alzheimers later in life? What about the connection between vasectomy and mental disorders? What do you think?

I got mine just before I turned 22. I am now over 40. I never experienced any kind of side effect.

There are no risks unique to getting a vasectomy. The risks are the same as getting a tooth pulled, or getting a tatoo.

My sex drive increased (no worry about getting anyone pregnant).

You might say, it was my greatest possible 22 birthday present.

It didn’t hurt. Well, maybe I was a little sore for a few days. I just took aspirin. Back in 1989 I paid cash(no insurance) It was only $250. I was back in action (having sex) again after only a week.

Sperm can only get into the bloodstream if the doctor is sloppy.

There are no connections between vasectomies and mental disorders. The rumors about mental health, and dementia, are started by religious groups who are against vasectomies.

Now days, none.............. I got the nip in the morning and I was out cleaning the house gutter that afternoon.

I had it done 7 years ago and it has not changed a thing. The blood stream thing, that is how it works. The sperm is absorbed into the blood stream.

Alzheimer's, I never heard anything about it. I don't believe that.

Mental disorders, none. It does not make you any less of a men, it is only the tube that carries the sperm that is cut and tied. The other one that moves your hormones is left in tact. It has not changed my feelings on sex or anything else.

Honestly, there is nothing to it....... the morning I was having it done, I was scared as hell. I got there, they gave me a little needle (slight sting, but nothing like I thought). You lay there for ten minutes and they do a ten minute job on you and it over. I did not feel a thing and I have not looked back since.

Till it comes up in conversation, you forget about it. I honestly can not tell you the last time I thought about it.

It's a lot easier then a women getting done. So, I recommand it to anyone.........no more worries about anything.

Good luck and best wishes...
