Forwards: Center: Takes face-offs, circles around in the defense zone, in the offensive zone helps get the puck when it is in the corner.
Right Wing: stays on the right side of the ice and usually stays by the boards at the hash marks during the defensive zone. If the puck is on the weak side (meaning not on the right side of the ice) then the right wing should be in front of the net. If it is on the right side then you should be by the hash marks waiting for the puck to get to you.

Left Wing: same exact thing as right wing except on the left side of the ice.

Defense: You have a right and left defense and they do the exact same thing except one person is on the left and one person is on the right. In the offensive zone the defense just stay near the blue line and wait for the puck to come to them so they can take a shot. Also sometimes they go down with the puck to shoot, and they help down low every once in a while.

In the defensive zone the defense go behind the net and try to get the puck to their winger or their center. If they can't make a pass they will skate the puck up and out of the zone.

Icing: happens when one team shoots the puck down the ice and is in on one side of the center line. They face-off is then in their own zone.

Hope i helped!

Plus you need to go to games to actually understand all that you have learned. It is an extremely visual game, and just reading won't get you half as far as watching.
