The hardest thing about growing up for me was having to go thru my parents divorcing when I was 12. This is the age that everything hit me like a ton of bricks. I got my period, I had my first real kiss, my parents got divorced, my mother had no money.
I feel like I missed out on alot things. For example, where I lived their was a park that had a pool and I lived right acroos the street from it, you would think its summer and well I would go to the pool everyday, not me I had to stay home and babysit when I was 12, just because my mom couldnt afford a babysitter. Their were other things that I had to deal with, but I dont want to bore you.

Laters and good luck on your speech.

ummm literally GROWING up! feet growing...leading to having to buy new shoes all the time, arms growing, legs growing, gaining weight, leading to having to buy more clothes that fit..dealing with parents ..oh what ya can and can't buy and how much ya can spend....so then having to deal with asking parents for money and dealing with them telling us no and to get a job blah blah blah...that whole arugment...getting zits and dealing with parents again trying to get the proactive solution...... hair growth on body and i don't mean on the top of our head thus having to start shaving.dealing with parents again with that whole issue........umm...but the hair that does grow on the top of your head there is special shampoo and conditioner that needs to be bought, salon trips, dye, cuts....again $$/parent interaction!!.....i am sure you can think of more ways of the literal meaning of GROWTH in teens. You see growing up is just that...GROWING up. Let them know that it is LITERALLY just that and why. And that it is directly related to PARENTS!!! no matter which way you look at it or try to get around it.
