Why do I have to pay so much tax!!!??

More income = higher tax due to higher levels of income resulting in increased levels of "disposable income" (money beyond that needed for the basic essentials of food, accomodation, transport etc etc). Those most "able" to pay(contribute) do so via the higher tax rate.

And where do the taxes go-
National highways and their upkeep, national rail systems, hospitals, medicare, pahrmaceutical benefits scheme, education, schools and universities, welfare for the underpriviledged, armed forces to defend us, emergency personell and policing, customs and quarantine, drought relief, funds for disaster relief, and so the list goes on and on.....
So UNLESS you are a homeless hermit sitting on a mountain eating the native plants and not physically going anywhere.....
You are just making a Small contribution to your use of resources funded by the society as a whole.

Roads, school, ESPECIALLY the officials you elect into office, they all take your money willingly and expectantly.....

Try lowering the dependents on your tax forms (W-4) and see if that helps you next year, otherwise, make less money for the amount of people that live in your home right now (ie, dependents like children.)
