From all the reports I've read on Igawa, I don't think he'll be anything special. Pavano is a joke. Wang is the real deal and so are Pettitte and Mussina as long as they stay healthy. Their starting pitching isn't in the same league as the Red Sox so if the Yanks make the playoffs it will be as a wildcard, but it will be close because their are a lot of good teams in the American League.

Yes, their rotation as of now is good enough to get into the playoffs. They may win a lot of 9-7 type games, but a win is a win. The important thing is for the rotation to throw a lot of innings so the bullpen won't be overworked going into the playoffs.
The Yanks loaded up on young arms by trading Sheffield and Johnson, so they can put together a nice package to land a Zambrano, Oswalt, or D-Train near the trade deadline.

I think their offense will be good enough to get them to the playoffs--as it did last year without Matsui & Sheffield for most of it. Their pitching is a huge question mark....but the good thing about the Yankees is that they have no problem going out and getting what they need to make the team better. So if they are struggling at the deadline, they'll do something to improve the team.

Yes they will make the playoff. How far in the playoffs is open for debate. Their pitchers have talent but there are a lot of question marks. Do we get the Andy that we know in New York or do we get injured Andy from Houston? What is Pavano going to do, or is his MAN GINA going to be hurt all year. The Moose will be consistant 15-18 wins. The Wang, solid last year can he repeat. Igawa, have never seen him. Hopefully not another Ibaru.

It might get them to the playoffs, but it won't win them a World Series. Then again, if the Yankees get to the postseason, it won't be because of pitching. It'll be the offense.
When don't the Yankees make the playoffs...even though I hate them, they seem to make it every year.

Yes. It will always be good enough, well, at least better than the overrated Red Sox rotation. It will also be good enough to win a World Series.
For the guy who said Mriano will have a bad year (Ballzy), we might as well head to Mars because the apacolypse will happen be4 Mariano has a bad season.

Too many question marks.
Carl Pavano- hasn't picthed in three years due to an injury.
Mike Mussina - He's solid but getting old. He slipped a bit last season.
Wang - He had a great season last year but he could be a flash in the pan.
The japan guy - I think the yankees are lucky he gets to be a .500 pitcher.

The Yankees have always needed help in pitching. This year will be no different. They need to buy Johan! I bet you Dontrelle will be on the Yankees by the end of the 07' season.

i think of acceptance could have somewhat to do with it. Wang replaced into for sure the desirable pitcher for the Yankees in 2006 and nonetheless isnt seen the ace of the gang, and there is likewise plenty doubt that he will pitch on taking off day. in spite of if i think of it could be: Wang Mussina Pettitte Pavano (if wholesome) Igawa How sturdy do those first 3 names look up there. i think of they could take out the worldwide sequence on '07. If Clemens comes back, i think of there possibilities will enhance hundreds except for some reason he loses his dominance this low season in a roundabout way.
