I think that giving too much credo to "luck" is a bit of a cop-out and could lead to pit-falls. Sure some are born wealthy,.. more are NOT wealthy. You cite Paris Hilton as "lucky". OK, she was born into wealth and has built a name & spectacle of herself WITH that wealth. What about others born into wealthy families,.. MANY we never hear of,.. others like the Getty's and the Hearst's have had their share of heartbreak and tragedy that all the wealth in the world can't "fix".
What about those who were born into "average" and even poor families? Donald Trump, Condoleeza Rice, Bill Clinton, Lucille Ball, Jennifer Hudson, etc. and on & on. Were these people "lucky"? Some may say "yes" and they believe this because they see ONLY the SUCCESS of these people. They don't even consider the hard WORK, SACRIFICE and PERSERVERANCE of these people as they MADE their way TO SUCCESS!
You need to purge the word "Luck" from your vocabulary and MAKE YOUR WAY. Look toward your goals in life and press on,.. If you can't define a goal at this point, (in the event that you're young,.. early to mid-20's or so) then condition yourself into being as self sufficient and as responsible as possible. I guarantee you'll have no envy of Paris Hilton as you make your OWN way up through the ranks.

I think its all about point of view. I don't measure people's luck by their wealthy. If Paris Hilton was an example of lucky, why would she choose a such low way to make herself known? Most people that does what she has done (her porn movie for example), come from a "miserable" life. I guess, misery is on every peoples life, but some unfortunately are more miserables than others. Life is good, when our problems can be easily resolved with money. What about those problems, that money can't help or resolve ? How to get over it and live a life more lucky ?

Lucky as they may be,these silver spoon people have no concept about the worry of bill and food on their table because they have always had .Paris showed us just how ignorant she really is with that show she has with Nicole Richie, for God sake neither knew how to fill out an application.People who have struggled and been stepped on know the value of a dollar because we are accustomed to respecting every penny.I have seen shows were grown women still cry home to mama and daddy for money and throw fits.not even batting an eye at spending 5k for a purse of shoes,I could help more people with 5k than to be so self involved buying purses and shoes that cost that much.so I wouldn't say they are so lucky because if they are born into money..they wouldn't survive in the real world like the average person has deemed second nature.

To use your example I wouldn't define Paris Hilton as 'lucky' Yes she was born into money and fame, but is she truly happy? Unlikely. Will she ever be? Unlikely. Whereas there are some people who are on moderate incomes or have horrendous illness' who are able to make the best out of their lives and find a happiness and fulfilment in their lives.
So, really it is a question of how you define 'luck' It is not always what you see on the surface e.g. money, looks or health. It is about spirit, attitude, soul! Therefore the expression 'you create your luck' to a certain degree is my belief. Yes bad, unfair things happen but it is how you choose to respond to your circumstances that really 'makes' your luck!

I am not sure anyone is chosen for luck at birth, unless one believes in being born under certain stars, or God controlling everything, as some do.
I think it is simply luck of the draw. For the most part, I would not want to be in the shoes of rich people, especially the American celebrity kinds. They appear shallow and that is the kindest thing to say. And some, they may be nice enough, but have far too much misery to offset their money.

There's no such thing as luck Joe. Luck is for the superstitious and the apathetic. I've always liked to quote a great Canadian on that matter, he said: " I'm a great believer in luck, and I find that the harder I work the more luck I have", quoted from "Stephen Leacock". You are where you are Joe because you have put yourself there. You consider yourself lucky in some areas of life but quite frankly you've earned the station you have. Then again the ones close to you who are addicts and alcoholics have earned their pains as well. They are where they are because they put themselves there. If you want a greater life than the one you currently enjoy then you can get it with the wit and the wisdom you have. Couple that with the work of your labours and the sweat of your brows I think you will find yourself to be even more "lucky" than ever. Further more you will find that you have earned the so called luck you have because you have put yourself there. All the best to you and your future endeavours.

i believe that every person make's their own luck in life... there are no lucky or unlucky people..fair enough there are people who are alot much more financially stable than other's which sometime's seem's unfair but it isnt really as these people work really hard to get to the top...we have all got the ability to do this just some choose not to. I understand obviously we have third world countries and there circumstances are different they dont have the choice like most of us...it's like ther ive's are already mapped out beacuse its so poor... we so dont realise how easy we have it and take it for granted !

There is no such thing as luck.
As for being lucky to be born into a rich family, do you not think that they suffer from the same insecurities & fears as the rest of us do? The only difference between "them" & "us" is the fact that they have money. Money means nothing. Its not as though you can take it with you when you die.No, in my opinion, your luck is what you make it.

The old saying:
It takes money to make money.
Kids who are rich can attend the finest schools and have parents pay their way through college. They usually can get loans to start a business. They know the connections.
A poor or middle class family may not have the means, connections, or schooling to "make it".
Business want to cut work hours (parttime).Out source Jobs.Use temp agencies, etc.
The media declares how great the economy and lifestyles are.As high paid (many raised rich) they can think that.

I've always wondered about this but she is a bad example I wouldn't want to be in her shoes for any thing with her money she also got a large does of stupidity, there must be some sort of balance in life that we are not seeing and only concentrating on what we don't have. I guess?
