Catchers with knee problems that are in their mid-30's usually don't rebound after injuries. I'm betting against him.

Tek brings so much to the art of catching and handling pitchers. Boston pitchers genuinely pitch better when Varitek is behind the plate. His bat at the plate usually does not hurt, but really that is his secondary strength. He is an extraordinary catcher. Except when Tim Wakefield is on the mound.
