My grandmother and I owned a restaurant and its kitchen appliances and all the counters were made of stainless steel. We were told to use nothing but vinegar and warm water to keep the stainless steel clean and sparkling. This is what we did and we had the restaurant for 15 years.

I saw a can of stainless steel cleaner in Krogers last week. I can't recall exactly the name of it, but if you have a Kroger's store near you, check it out. I want to say it was called Weiman or something like that. They have cleaners for other appliances too.

The site below will show you what to look for... they are Stainless Steel Magic Wipes, and they are killer. I bought mine at Bed Bath and Beyond, but they are also avialable at Linens and Things. They could be at the grocery store, too (I don't know). They last forever b/c one wipe will clean all of my appliances (fridge/stove, dishwasher, micro, and wine cooler). After I clean I buff with a dry cotton cloth (dish towel). They look great for a while (but I don't have kids).

Now, Martha Stewart says she just uses Windex and paper towels with a final buffing of a dry paper towel. ??? Cheaper, but these wipes are indeed great. Check them out!

There are several stainless steel cleaners in spray guns on the market these days, just go to a good supermarket and you will find them. They all work well.

Depends on the finish. I always use Comet powder on my Stainless Steel sink. Or a product called Nu-finish for metals.

They make a cleaning product specially for them. It polishes as it cleans. Get it at the grocery store in the dish soap isle!
