Oh sweetie, ask your doctor. Unfortuntately I have no idea because when I breastfeed I have the opposite problem. Your doctor, but probably the pediatrician mostly, will have great advice for you. Don't let them tell you to stop! Get a second opinion if they do. As long as you want to breastfeed, keep at it because you're right, it is best. Props to you for wanting to take such great care of your child.
If after a second opinion you are still told to stop for your own health reasons, take the advice. Formula fed babies turn out just fine and your little one needs you to be healthy.

Way to go!!!! Congratulations! It is wonderful that you are nursing. You are apart of a very small percentage of women your age who do so and that's wonderful!
Mommy to David said it very well. Eat those kinds of high quality fats. Cheeses, whole yougurt, avacados, peanut butter. Whatever you want. I eat well all day. I have a late evening snack that is my dessert and I make it whatever I want, no matter how much fat or calories are in it. Make sure you are eating at least three solid meals a day. I find myself eating around four meals and two snacks. If you still keep losing weight, I would consult a nutritionist. Even a nutritionist is cheaper than buying formula. Good luck! I hope you find what works for you.

Eat alot of fat.
Not bad fat, good fat.
Full fat yogurt & cheese (if you and the baby tolerate it well), butter, olive oil, nuts, avocados, eggs.
I went from 135 pre-preg to 110 about 6 months post. I still float around 115-120, but im healthy at least.
I have started taking a cod liver oil supplement and i believe that has helped ALOT. It sounds gross, but theyre flavored and i mix it in with yogurt and i can't really tell its in there. Its good for omega 3's and vit D... both very important for you and baby!
I also eat one egg every morning and use butter and olive oil freely. I fear what will happen when he weans!

Breastfeeding takes all nutrients out of your body to give to the baby....if you are no longer taking your prenatal vitamins, get back on them!!! This will give you added supplements, so you can keep some of your food! Normally, veggies are rich in vit and minerals, but, they can also make your baby very gassey...so, use discretion. You know how your baby tolerates these foods by now. Eat lots of carbs and fats, being that a lot of fat is excreted in breast milk, and your probobly not eating enough fatty foods to be losing...god, wish I had that problem :) Also, I would try boost or ensure, which contain carbs and fats, as well as vitamins and are easy to eat on the go...

My friend had the same problem. She was also one of those who produced three times more milk her daughter could consume. She ate healthy and tried to eat the extra 500 calories to counter the weight loss but she continued to lose too fast. She went to a dietician and was put on a special diet and it worked for her.
This was good because she was monitored by a professional, hope this helps.

Breastfeeding generall burns 500+ calories a day (in addition to the 1500+- calories you burn daily), so I'd suggest not only eating more nutritious food (not foods with empty calories, like sweets), but try eating 5-7 small meals throughout the day.

you should try weaning your baby to a bottle if it was born in oct then it is old enough. you've done a good job there is nothing wrong with a bottle fed baby you both need to be healthy and it sounds like you dont so I say give it a try . Good luck !
