Currently it seems like Sony has a lot to correct for the future. And some things can't be easily corrected only through Firmware updates, so they maneuvered themselves into a dead end.
For example: The downloads from the Playstation shop. The memory of the PS3 will be occupied with handling the shop stuff, and there's not enough memory left to run games. So when the PS3 is downloading, its downloading. You can browse the system, but not play any games.
If you download something from the Xbox Live Marketplace, you can start downloading and pop in a game and play something while the download progresses. You will get a small Message in-game if your download is finished.
Or the match making. As I said below, Sony says they don't do a Player system. Each game company can (and has to) write its own matchmaking.
Since games are already made to work without a matchmaking system like the Xbox Live service, adding a service will probably "break" the released games.
And finding other players on Xbox Live is the best experience I ever had. Even better than PC.
And finally, the "better" console mainly depends on your gaming preferences. A console is only as good as the games for it.
Regarding graphics: check the graphics "difference" on the link below.
However my personal pros and cons for each console:
Xbox 360:
Pro:
Cheaper than PS3. Great Graphics and Sound. Great variety of games. Many games for PS3 are now for Xbox, as the sales for PS3 are not that good, and publishers make games for consoles that sell well.
Online Play with Live is the best online experience I had.
You're always able to see who of your friends is online and what they are playing, so you can join them immediately.
Free demos, and other stuff from the Live Marketplace. Try a game before you buy.
Has a HDDVD accessory. Should Blue Ray succeed and HD DVD lose, you could buy a Blue Ray accessory drive later.
Can connect with your PC to display MP3s, Pictures Video and TV on your Televison.
You can play your own music during gameplay. And if there are special cut scenes that have to have their music (e.g. one of your comrades in a War game is dying in a dramatic cut scene, it would runin the mood if you just happen to play "Don't worry, be Happy")
Cons:
Live subscription costs about $4 a month if you buy a 12 Month Live card.
PS3:
Pro: Onlineservice supposed to be free.
Cons:
Costs an arm and a leg.
Has few exclusive titles at the moment.
Graphics as good as XBox 360.
If the customers buy HD DVDs instead of Blue Ray, you will have an expensive gaming console to put next to your Betamax VCR.

That's a very interesting question. The ps3 has better hardware, but i think it will never reach its full potential. Who has 600 + dollars to pay for a console? The 360 is cheaper, has better online play, and two killer apps, gears of war, and halo3. I was talking to a best buy employee and it seems like gran turismo HD will be available in japan only. That really sucks. GT HD was the only reason to get a Ps3.

i've got performed the two and that i admire the PS3 greater. The XBOX 360 does not have as many applications and the pictures do not even seem real, the persons appear like clay! PS3 on the different hand seems real. And the controller is action-scensored plus is lighter in weight

This question is inaccurate. It should be IF they hit their full potential. The way Sony's been handling things I can't say I see that happening for them.

Playstation 3, they have more expierence than Xbox does, and they have way better graphics and less problems, (at least that has been my expierence) although Halo has great graphics but that may just be Ubisoft.

The PS3. I own one and love it. I played the X-Box 360 and didn't care for it.
