A British band called The Inmates actually had an international hit with it back in '81. Not quite as good as The Standells original but still quite good. I recall when the radio stations played it, the line that goes "Oh no, Boston your my home" was changed to fit different regions. Here in DC, it was "Oh no, DC your my home." I still have the vinyl LP. Others may well have recorded it too but I'm not aware of any specific versions.
(I do know that Bruce Springsteen performs it live on occasion, particularly when he plays Boston.)
BTW, I saw The Standells open for The Rolling Stones back in '66. The drummer/lead singer was Dick Dodd, one of the original Mouseketeers on TV in the '50s!
