I bought a little plant last summer that had thick green leaves and little yellow blossoms about the size of a bb. It was a very hardy plant that grew like crazy in the shade. By the end of the summer it had spread all the way around the huge pot that I had it in and was hanging over the sides. Someone told me it was called hearts and flowers but I haven't found it anywhere online.

Your description sounds too vague. The thick leaves says sedum to me, but it could be a lantana (there are a lot of them), or even a tropical begonia or New Guinea impatient.
