i just see a lot of people half my age who pass on who have children and great careers and reason to live, and i wonder why this is , when someone like me, with no kids and a boring, simple kinda life are still here. (not that i want to go yet) it just makes me wonder.

People have many different beliefs about what happens when someone dies. I believe everyone has a mission in life and a pre-determined time that they must go.
Many people who seemed to have a lot going on in their life had a mission as well; some may have completed it, others may have not. That mission doesn't have to be something elaborate, it could be something simple such as bringing joy to someone.
Don't feel that you do not have anything going for yourself. Just the fact that you are analyzing in depth these events happening around you show that you are a person that cares and that you are not just a simple person.
Although it may not seem that anything exciting is occurring in your life, this may be a time that you may want to take advantage of and attain some goals that you may have set for yourself.
Since things seem simple now, it is easier to focus on your goals and in what you want in life. And if in the long-run things get complicated, you would have already gotten some of your goals out of the way and have time to deal with the tough situation you may face.
