If people were aware about what is really in on their vitamins and supplements, don't you think that those diets supplements would not be able to lead peoples health wrong ? I think if people had paid what they have paid to become healthy is because they are intended to do and the Vitamins and Suplements Industries are highly responsable for the bad shape of american health.

I think that the poor health of the average American has far more to do with cheeseburgers, lack of exercise, and stress, instead of the regulation of vitamins and minerals.

The FDA does regulate vitamins and minerals, just under a different set of regulations than prescription drugs.

It isn't the vitamins or the manufacturer that are giving them bad health, it's the user 'exceeding the recommended dosage'. (IE; like the woman that overdosed on vitamin A. If a person does that, they can kill themselves.)

That's why there are directions on every bottle that say...'do not exceed recommended dosage.' If the person cannot read or read English or understand how to properly use vitamins, then they need to have someone explain it to them, then separate the daily doses into a vitamin pill container, which is only a couple of dollars for storing daily doses.

If people are not sure what it is, then they should make it their business to 'know'. If they use too much of anything, it will hurt more than help them.

NO, PLEASE...no more FDA telling me what to do. Being approved and dosed by the FDA will mean by prescription and who in heaven's name would want to pay those prices. I can hardly afford to buy the vitamins in the first place. The only thing the FDA says is a must is that it has to be printed on the label, "These statements are not approved by the FDA. This supplement is not intended to treat or cure any disease."

Under FDA control, you'd also have to go to the doctor whenever you need more. That is plain crazy.

Most people consider Vitamins and Supplements part of our daily needs. That is why they don't control them, I personally consider supplements "drugs" because of everything with ephedra and such, but a lot less people would be using these if they were controlled. No politician would want to be pinned down as the person who made all the substances controllable even if it would help the health of people in this country.

They are under control of the FDA "FOOD and drug administration." They see it only as a food and not a medication or drug.

That's why they can't claim a cure. The government doesn't believe food cures anyone of a disease.

Other government entities control false advertising.
