First off I know at least two individuals that can be classified as sociopathic. I think it's important to know that true sociopaths act without regard for anyone but themselves, and they usually have no conscience, so first of all be carefull. But I've had some dealings with these kinds of people, and the ones i know are cowards, they fear direct conflict, so one tactic would be to call them out every chance you get to discredit whatever poison they're trying to inflict on someone. Another that has worked for me is try to beat them at their own game. Usually someone that has fallin into a sociopath's mind game is somewhat open at first, try to discredit the psycho by relating your own experiences to that of the victim and try to make the victim see through your eyes instead of those of the psycho. Good luck it's a tricky game that dose pose quite a few dangers to yourself and anyone stuck in the psycho's head game.

Think from the perspective of others. Namely, try to predict his reactions to certain situations. Think using mindsets different from your own. These are abilities the sociopath, by definition, does not have.
They don't care about others, and they don't think from the perspective of others. They're self-centered. So try to throw out some "bait" that attracts him. Something he needs or wants. He can't see the big picture, but you can. Trick him into doing something that he thinks will benfit him. That's the only way to motivate those types.
Easier said than done, I know. But that's the general idea.
