The Unibomer Ted Kaczynski is a diagnosed sociopath and has a very high IQ. Besides being a mathematician he is also an accomplished bomb maker and forest dweller.
My quesiton is what would make you think they couldn't be?

Sociopaths can be great surgeons, for instance, their lack of empathy is an advantage in that case. Often sociopaths have suffered a traumatic brain injury that separates them from those emotions that aid them in empathy. It is essential to remember that biology is not destiny, and things can be learned, even empathy.
