"The Elegant Universe" is about string theory, not quantum mechanics per se, although QM is in there since "strings" are an attempt to unite QM with Relativity.

It isn't clear what level you are looking for: a general discussion for nonscientists or an actual textbook? In any case, it will help to remember Richard Feynman's comment, "Don't worry if you don't understand quantum mechanics - nobody understands quantum mechanics."

Try Brian Greene, "The Elegant Universe" or "The Fabric of the Cosmos".
