The Queen serves as the head of the judiciary, commander in chief of the armed forces, supreme governor of the Church of England, and Church of Scotland, and summons and dismisses Parliament and ministers of the cabinet. She appoints judges, military officials, diplomats, and archbishops as well as gives honors and awards, such as the knighthoods and peerages.
All bills approved in the parliament are passed only after the queen has signed it.
We are told to believe that all these powers vested in the Queen are only ceremonial.
In reality these are done on the advise of the prime minister.
Now think about it.
This is a royal family, which had colonised the entire world under thier flag.
Not for a couple of years or decades, but for centuries.
What is the power they have weilded? How far will their influence have been? How many loyal people will they have across the world? How many powerful people would they have given support to?How many powerful business families would have been serving the family with unwavering loyalty.
We know how much power and influence, even a small time politician or business group has.
Do you really think a family that ruled the world would give it all up just like that.
Whether we like it or no,it remains true that thay were masterminds.History tells us about all the cunning(I would say super smart,if you look at it from their point of view) strategies they used to take over other countries.
Imagine the situation with you as the Royal Crown.
If you are so smart, that you managed to manipulate and strategise and fight and take over so many nations, all of which also had its own glorious kings,Will you give all this up just like that and settle for ceremonius glory only.
This is such a wonderful deception, that we don't even realise it is a deception.
It may be true, that all the political drama we see,are only orchestrated.
After all it does not really matter, who is seen in the public eye.
What only matters is,who holds the actual control.

She is head of state for over thirty countries and has been so for 55 years - show me a President that can boast the same ... unless he's a dictator. She has held the Commonwealth together for over 50 years. There have been ten Prime Ministers (from this country alone) who will tell you that she has given them some pretty useful advice and insights.
She represents British interests abroad and is the focal point for a lot of tourism.
Just a short list off the top of my head ... one last thing ... she makes a certain 41 year old Mackem proud to be English.

Well number one ruins the alter egos of the politicians, having to bow and say Ma'am - it stops them from getting to big headed.
She has a mental sence of humour, laughs at cheire blair, i recons we all do that - fish.
She is doing a job many of us could never do, sticking by her oath all her life - thats a hard job but she has never broken it.
an impartial symbolic Head of State above politics, commercial and factional interests
a focus for national unity, national awards and honours and national institutions
a Head of State whom we share with 16 other independent countries because she is their Queen too and that links us all together amazingly and most valuably
the Head of the Commonwealth because all 53 countries recognise her as this and so she is a special unifying symbol for them too
the centrepiece of colourful non-political ceremonial and national celebrations
separate from the Head of Government (the Prime Minister), unlike in some countries where the two are combined, often with difficulty
able to give impartial non-political support to the work of a wide range of different types of organizations, faiths, charities, artists, craftsmen etc
a Head of State completely under the democratic control of Parliament but not having to change every few years in divisive costly elections
at the head of a Royal Family who can share the duties and represent the Queen
a constant, lasting symbolic head of the country with links back through our whole history (King George VI) and assured lines of continuity into the future
a worldwide well-known and respected symbol of our country carrying out State Visits and goodwill tours in other countries

She cracks you up then YOU benefit. Laughter releases endomorphins into your blood stream and that makes you feel good. Worth the pennies from your annual taxes that go to her I should say. God bless you your Majesty.
The alternative to a monarch for a head of state (a ceremonial office like France and Ireland) would be some smarmy politician as President. No thanks, they already have enough opportunities to feather each other's nests.

The Queen provides a decent role model for her people. She looks better and better when you compare her with, oh, Anna Nicole Smith or Britney Spears or other cheap floozies that all too many Americans look up to.

Most royal families are just figure heads now. They attend offical functions; meet other heads of state, and pose for pictures. The countries love them, so they will not get rid of them, the world loves them....just look at any magazine and you will see a royal family member on it.

Not a lot. Some people say she encourages tourism so I suppose she's as useful as Disneyland but other countries such as France get more tourists without the help of royalty.

It's my belief that the royal family provide a good source of tourism for the UK and it would seem that all the money that tourist bring with them goes back in tot he UK economy, so therefore society can benefit from more money being in the UK system. a ha!
