I suggest you see a therapist or counselor so you can learn how to handle these memories. The best thing to do with bad memories is to use them as catalysts to improve your life. Think about how these memories have wired your brain to make you think and behave the way you do. I bet they're causing you to hold back on enjoying relationships and appreciating the gifts in your life. Basically, the past memories have simply become habits, and you can create new ones with a little work each day. For example, I used to tailgate other drivers a lot. But I started backing off, which took a lot of awareness to notice what I was doing, and eventually with practice each day, I no longer do it.

So see a therapist to help you come up with ways to undo the effects of those memories. It's hard to just forget about them, so make some use of them.

I do not think brain wash means what you think it means. In any meaning attempting to repress past memories would result in a neurotic complex, I don't know if this is the modern terminology, but it is the older Jungian view. Dealing with your past is the only way to not have problems with past memories.

I don't think that possible memories are memories they are always going to be there. Anyway you should face them
